Thought I'd share this...

It's so sad how Christmas has become so commercialized. It's completely ridiculous how so many people get "offended" by the word "Christmas" or anything to do with Jesus when that is the very reason we even celebrate this holiday.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
*December 25th is just a " Holiday ".*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
*At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*

*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
*Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*

*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Not Happy Holiday !*

I know it's kind of cheesy but it's so true. This morning I was watching the news and they were covering a story about an elementary school in North Carolina. A parent was "offended" by a Rudolph song and pageant because of the word "Christmas". Thus the school completely rearranged the entire pagaent because of the complaint as to not offend anyone. Are you kidding me? It's absolutely mind boggling to me.

It's crazy, absolutely crazy.

Well, I hope you're all having a MERRY CHRISTMAS so far!

Isn't it sad?! I hate it! I can't wish anyone a Merry Christmas at work. You have to say "Happy Holidays!"

It is so sad! This is supposed to be happy time of year and some people have turned it into more of a headache.

I really like that little poem. I am going to send it to my father. I know he will get a kick out of it!

Amen.

My husband and I were ringing bells for the Salvation Army last weekend, and we were fascinated by people's reactions when we said "Merry Christmas." I told him that as long as I was representing a church group and standing by a sign that said "Salvation" on it and standing outside a store because people were in one way or another celebrating Christmas, I would say "Christmas" as much as I wanted. He said he read something that said that people who don't want to hear it get downright offended and angry when people say it to them, and I was like, "Hmm....whatever I say, they're going to be bombarded a thousand times worse once they go inside that store." We said it to everyone who walked by. It felt good.
